Proliance: Vietnam Software Team — 70% Cost Reduction

Client Reference · Proliance GmbH · Since January 2025
From 0 to 9 — a complete development center in Vietnam
Proliance GmbH runs Proliance 360, one of the leading GDPR compliance platforms in the DACH region with over 2,500 customers. Internal restructuring made a rebuild of the engineering team necessary — Proliance used the moment to make a strategic shift to Vietnam as their new development hub.
Who is Proliance?
Proliance GmbH is a German SaaS company offering Proliance 360 — a comprehensive platform for data protection, information security and regulatory compliance. More than 2,500 companies across industries from manufacturing to healthcare rely on the platform every day to manage GDPR requirements, ISO 27001 processes and NIS2 compliance.
For a company whose customers depend on reliability, stability, responsiveness and quality in software development are not optional — they are fundamental.
Platform overview: Information Security →The Challenge
Necessary Restructuring
Internal restructuring made it necessary to rebuild the engineering team — availability, planning reliability, and long-term team stability needed a more solid and sustainable foundation.
High Developer Costs
The previous developers cost between €400 and €600 per day. With a growing team and increasing feature demands, development costs were rising without proportional return.
Slow Support Cycles
Support cases raised by customers in the afternoon were not analysed until the next working day. For a compliance platform that customers depend on daily, that is a real problem.
Why Vietnam?
Vietnam is today one of the most important IT locations in Southeast Asia — with over 530,000 trained IT professionals, two strong technology hubs, and a rapidly growing sector of international projects. Choosing Vietnam is not purely a cost decision. It is a strategic one.
Highly Qualified Developers
Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are the country's two major IT hubs — home to leading technical universities, a strong engineering tradition, and a population that actively pursues STEM careers. Many top graduates work on international projects and bring strong skills in Java, React, DevOps and QA.
Strong Cultural Fit with German Companies
Vietnamese developers are known for their thoroughness, reliability and team orientation — qualities that resonate well in German company structures. Compared to many other cultures, collaboration is direct, productive and uncomplicated. With Proliance, this shows every day: less coordination overhead, more ownership.
DeViLink On the Ground in Hanoi
With our own team based in Vietnam, we can meet candidates in person, assess them professionally and support them long-term. That is the difference between a recruiter and a genuine on-site partner.
Proliance Travels to Hanoi
In August 2025, Proliance's leadership team flew to Hanoi to meet the Vietnamese team in person. Hotels, office space, flights and team events — all organised by DeViLink on the ground. The result: a team that knows each other, looks out for each other, and works toward one shared goal.
GDPR & Data Protection: Built In from Day One
Proliance runs a GDPR compliance platform — data protection was not an optional requirement but a fundamental prerequisite. All technical and organisational measures were established before the Vietnamese team's first working day.
Developers work exclusively on cleaned test and staging environments. No team member has access to real customer data or the production environment.
The entire infrastructure runs on OVH servers in Europe. No data transfer to third countries — customer data never leaves the EU at any point.
All employee devices are enrolled in the customer's MDM — Proliance retains full control over antivirus, updates and remote wipe.
All team members receive training on data protection, compliance and information security. Detailed employment contracts with confidentiality clauses follow German legal standards.
NIS2: A New Compliance Obligation for Thousands of Companies Across Europe
Since the October 2024 application deadline, the EU's NIS2 Directive has applied to an estimated 30,000 organisations in Germany alone. It requires operators of critical and important facilities to implement concrete information security measures: risk management, mandatory incident reporting, and documented compliance towards authorities. Proliance 360 helps organisations meet these requirements in a structured and audit-ready way.
DeViLink's Vietnamese development team built a free NIS2 assessment tool for Proliance — an interactive checker that lets companies find out in minutes whether they fall under the NIS2 Directive.

Vietnam is 5–6 hours ahead of Germany. What sounds like a logistics challenge is in practice a significant advantage — if you structure the work correctly.
✗ Before: Single-timezone setup
✓ After: Two-timezone setup
Pre-8am deployments: The Vietnam team runs critical deployments during their morning hours — while it is still night in Germany. When the German working day begins, the new version is already running stable.
The Cost Calculation
The previous development team cost Proliance between €400 and €600 per day. The Vietnamese team via DeViLink costs €100 to €200 per day — with comparable qualifications and significantly better planning reliability.
More Output. Lower Cost. Better Quality.
Lower developer rates do not automatically mean lower performance — the numbers from the first full year with the Vietnam team make that clear. Compared to the previous year, the team delivered significantly more in 2025, cost less, and improved code quality at the same time.
| Metric | 2024 | 2025 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Story Points (Velocity / Output Volume) | Baseline | +123% | ↑ More than doubled |
| Features Delivered (Stories) | Baseline | +71% | ↑ Significantly more features |
| Total Team Cost | Baseline | -14% | ↓ Despite far higher output |
| Bug Share of Total Work | 59.6% | 52.4% | ↓ Quality improving |
| Cost per Story Point | Baseline | -61% | ↓ Massively more efficient |
